Namespace guide

Seventeen namespaces, three families

The namespace at the end of a portal name decides its scheme, its default direction, who may register it, what is checked first and its yearly fee. Each namespace locks in its scheme, so nobody needs to remember which one to type: a portal:// typed for a .character simply opens as activate://.

Three schemes

activate:// who you meet
Wakes a verified identity, which comes to you wherever you are. .character .agent .avatar .figure
portal:// where you go
Opens a place with no storyline: an organization, a home, a realm or a destination. .business .ministry .education .home .government .realm .destination
experience:// what happens
Starts a storyline with a beginning, a middle and an end. .history .event .game .movie .music .book

Identities

Who you meet: AI characters, agents, avatars and figures that come to you.

Destinations

Where you go: businesses, ministries, schools, homes, realms and real places with time frames.

Experiences

What happens: history, events, games, movies, music and books you step into.

Yearly fees

Every fee is for one year and is set per namespace, so a name's price matches its weight on the Mesh. Subnames under your own name are free.

Free
.avatar
$20 a year
.character, .agent, .home, .event, .game, .movie, .music, .book
$50 a year
.business, .ministry, .education, .destination, .history
$100 a year
.figure
By application, $1,000 a year
.realm
Reserved
.government

A realm is an application, not a checkout: you file a realm charter with its purpose, rules, content rating and Responsible Guardian, and the fee is held on your card until Jubilee approves it by hand. A .character's fee includes a year of hosting on Jubilee's Character Server with 50 GB of memory; more storage is $0.03 per GB per month.

Fair rules for every name

  • Names are never resold. A name moves to another account only through Jubilee, at cost, and both sides affirm that no money changed hands for it.
  • A name must go live within 90 days of payment, or it lapses. A realm has six months to open a live destination.
  • Every account is a verified person or organization: Jubilee checks it once, before its first paid registration.
  • An account that holds more than about ten names is reviewed by a person at Jubilee before it registers more.

When a renewal is missed

  • The name goes dormant for one year. Its address, certificate and memory are held, and renewing revives it at once.
  • After a year dormant, it dies: Jubilee issues a death certificate, and its owner has 30 days to export its memory.
  • The address then rests for one more year, so no one can pose as the former name, and is released. There is no resurrection, and the death record stays public.
  • Display names may repeat across the Mesh; addresses and permanent IDs never do.
